Since the inception of Google plus,Google has been really busy in modifying its present services for better user experience.Now Google has Youtube 's interface for better management and greater social integration

• Step 1: Fire up your Google Chrome or Firefox browser.
• Step 2: Visit http://www.youtube.com
• Step 3:
  Chrome users:on Windows: press Ctrl+Shift+J to open the developer toolson MAC: press CMD+Alt+J to open the developer toolsFirefox users:on Windows: press Ctrl+Shift+Kon MAC: press CMD+Shift+K
• Step 4: After opening developer tools on your specific browser switch to the Console tab and copy this line of code where the cursor is blinking:

The new look features:

• Google+ integration : Now YouTube content has what your Circles have shared to Google+.

• Homepage content will be displayed in a single column, putting a focus on larger preview images for videos.
•  color scheme tweak (new gray background) highlights content.
• The “fullscreen” button in actual YouTube videos will receive a more user-friendly update, giving viewers the option to shrink, expand or, yes, fullscreen the video.

Recommended video content pops out when clicked, allowing you to easily exit to where you last were before clicking after viewing.

Clicking the YouTube logo on the top left of the site will lead to http://www.youtube.com/guide .


YouTube’s favicon will also be switched out for an updated version.

Linux Mint 12 Released-A Quick Review

The latest version of Ubuntu-based Linux distribution 'Linux Mint' Codenamed 'Lisa', is now available to download.

Linux Mint 12 ships with a tweaked GNOME 3 desktop: the MGSE, also known as the Mint Gnome Shell Extension. As its name implies, this is a Gnome Shell extension built on top of Gnome 3 which has the old gnome 2.x look and feel.The MGSE brings back the bottom panel and the " MintMenu." It allows you to use Linux Mint the traditional way without losing the functionality of Gnome 3.


Some  highlighted features of MSGE are :

The bottom panel
The application menu
The window list
A task-centric desktop (i.e. you switch between windows, not applications)
Visible system tray icons
MGSE also includes additional extensions such as a media player indicator, and multiple enhancements to Gnome 3.

Being based on ubuntu it poseses all the goodness of ubuntu + lots of tweakings to make a good section of users happy.Also as usual it have shipped with the latest codecs(both open an closed source) so you can play Dvd movies right out of box even without installing!Other important packages includes Libreoffice,vlc,banshee music player etc.Also The Gnome 2 fork "mate" is also available in the repo.

How to Install ATI drivers in Ubuntu 11.10 Oneric

Before I begin you should know:

There are two types of Ati drivers available on Linux: The official driver provided by ATI(better known as FGLRX) and the open source driver developed by community after hacking/reverse engineering the official drivers(best of which is  known as xerver-xorg-video-ati). Generous contributors have hacked at code to create a free and open source driver for many ATI users. These drivers have come quite a long way from what they used to be 2 years ago. But, they slightly  lack in performance  and aren't officially supported by ATI. Proprietary drivers, on the other hand, offer superior performance but  they are closed source aka they are not open source.

• Installing FGLRX:
  
  This can be achieved in two ways:
  
  
  
  1. Easy method:
     
     
     • Open Addition drivers(dash->application->addition drivers or just search additional driver in dash search bar)
     • Select ATI/AMD proprietary FGLRX graphics Driver
     • Click on activate
     • Download will start and driver will get automatically installed,restart and you are done
  2. Manual method:
     
     This method may create some error  and may not be success full in every machine and thus is little bit tricky
     

     

     Easy method:click on activate

     • Download the respective driver from AMD's official support page.Click here
     • Right click on the downloaded file. Go to Properties and select to be executed as a program.
     • Now double click the file, let it run in Terminal
     • Enter Root password when prompted
     • Once done, open up another Terminal and enter the following command: sudo aticonfig --initial or browse dash  and click AMD catalyst control center
     • Restart viola you are done
• Open source alternatives?
  
  They are installed by default :)

• Troubleshooting:
  
  • Enter in Recovery mode for uninstalling and other configurational changes
  • Tips:hit sudo aticonfig to make configuration change 
  • To uninstall : open terminal cd usr/share/ati and this: sudo sh ./fglrx-uninstall.sh

Firefox 8 released

Firefox 8 is released both for windows and linux 2 weeks ago.This version of Firefox has several underhood improvement with noticible improvement of  speed.It has done quite a lot on memory management as is definitely faster then Firefox 7 ,however it still lag behind Chrome,IE and Opera in terms of start-up speed but it definitely matched head to head in javascript execution speed

Firefox is one of the last few browsers which  still use separate address and search boxes, which is good for those who like to keep those two activities separate.But address bar, aka the "awesome bar" has the ability to search too. That tool, which drops down suggestions from your history and favorites whenever you start typing, was pioneered by Firefox and copied by all other browsers. Another tweak is that when one of its suggested sites is already open in a tab, you can click on a "Switch to tab" link, preventing you from opening more tabs unnecessarily—a useful tweak

If there are sites we always want access to(like facebook,twitter,etc), just as in Chrome, you can pin their tabs to the left side of the tab bar. The haunted horror game "doom 3" has been open sourced.The source code of the game ; which used the powerful id Tech-4 engine has been published with GPL licence.
 what does that mean?



















It means users are free to access modfy and republish with the same licence,further more,this is higly likely to bring user in linux world where we would highly likely see a couple of new gameing titles  using this game engine soon.Id software have previously open sourced their game "quake 3" which so lots of spin off like open arena,alian arena,urban terror etc
but.... no textures, models, music and so on was opensourced. Just the game engine was so dont expect any pen source magic just yet. :)
